SK Capital Announces Acquisition of Leading Chemical Supplier SI Group

SK Capital recently announced that they are acquiring SI Group, a chemical manufacturer and longstanding partner of H.M. Royal. SK Capital made the announcement on June 1st, and the deal is set to close in the second half of 2018.
SI Group has been in business for over 100 years. They develop and manufacture a variety of performance additives and chemical intermediates, including phenolic resins, epoxy resins and paraffin inhibitors. Based in Schenectady, N.Y, the company has customers in more than 90 countries and over 2,800 employees at 20 locations worldwide.
The acquisition will strengthen SI Group’s position in multiple market segments. According to Wallace A. Graham, Chairman of SI Group, the acquisition will “enhance [SI Group’s] performance additives and intermediates business in the plastic, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, and rubber sectors.”
SK Capital plans to combine SI Group with Addivant — a company they have owned since 2013. Addivant is a global supplier of additives including antioxidants, polymer modifiers and UV stabilizer solutions. By joining these two companies, SK Capital hopes to create a global leader in the plastic, lubricant, oilfield and rubber additives markets. (Read the full press release to learn more.)
